TRAI sets minimum download speeds for 2G and 3G: Indian telecom operators have a broad network of 2G, and 3G networks and the wireless data adoption has been multiplying every year. So much so that, 76 percent of Indian Internet users access data through mobile devices. But are customers happy with all the data speeds that they are experiencing?

Lots of people complain about 3G speeds dropping as an increasing number of people start using this service. TRAI has already set QoS for wired broadband services at 512Kbps at the download rate. Many men and women whine about 3G speeds falling as an increasing number of people start using this support. TRAI has already established QoS for wired broadband services at 512Kbps at the download speed. At the moment, there are no QoS (Quality of Service) rules put on the download rates that people get with their cellular data connection.

After getting the number of complaints, TRAI felt the need to support minimum download speeds for wireless data providers. TRAI is in an opinion that 3G and EVDO CDMA relations need to have minimum download speeds of 1 Mbps with 95 percent success rate while 2G ties should have a minimal data download speed of 56 Kbps.

TRAI has also suggested that telecom operators must mention these data rate rates in all of the sale coupons, websites, and advertisements. This will enable consumers in understanding what they’re paying for and give them a better idea of what to expect. The mandate on data link rates is very good for customers as they are now able to anticipate the consistent performance of information connections if operators abide by the new QoS rules. If consumers do not receive the download rates that are cited in the programs, they could raise concerns to those operators or TRAI.

Perhaps you have felt cheated by operators regarding data connection speeds? What do you think about the movement by TRAI? Do let us know in the comments below.
