Apple increases Apple App Store download limit to over a 150MB Cellular network:
These are surface level updates; Apple has always introduced tweaks that are hidden for the customers to discover as they work on the new OS. One such tweak detection lies within the modified Apple App Store. Now, Apple has raised the limit of the size of apps that can be downloaded over the cellular connections.
Now, Users can download the apps as big 150MB in size using the cellular data. Post the limit. Apple Company will notify you to use the Wi-Fi network for downloading. Apple said this would let “Users download many apps from the App Store over their cellular network”. These are the first time since 2013 that Apple has raised the size limit for apps that can download over the cellular data. Before the iOS 11, the limit was 100MB that was released with iOS 7.
Apple has not provided the reason for the new limit; this move is likely in response to how apps in the App Store grown over the recent years. Most of the Apps including today’s essential ones like Twitter, Uber, Facebook are over the 100MB size. The users often tend to wait for the Wi-Fi connectivity to download the apps.
Another reason could be that cellular data rates have decreased in recent time with the operators in India. It is offering the more data at low prices. It allows the customers to spend cellular data a lot more without an accompanying pinch in the wallet.
Android customers can download the large/more apps over the cellular data without any restriction. But Apple doesn’t let you bypass the notifications. Because it doesn’t want customers to download, the large apps risk high and unknowingly data charges. Now iOS 11 is available for iPad, iPhone and iPad touch users.
